About Us
Avcon Inc is managed by Darrell Irby. I am an aviation enthusiast
interested in all its facets. Aviation is my vocation as well as my
advocation. My interest was cultivated at an early age and has
continued to the present. I am a private pilot, mechanic, appraiser,
and authorized inspector. I initially wanted to pursue a career as a
commercial pilot, but instead found satisfaction in the technical
side of aviation. My career started in General Aviation in the early
1980's, continued a twenty year span with Delta Airlines, and then
into my current endeavor with Avcon. After twenty years with Delta
Airlines, I established Avcon Inc. in 2005. I currently provide
aviation services, and teach in the Airframe and Powerplant
program in the local community college.
I am an aircraft owner - a Cessna 152, and a Piper PA24-250

Twenty six years experience, twenty with a CFR Title 14 Part 121
air carrier. Quality Control experience includes Inspection
Coordinator (Chief Inspector), Manager, Director, Quality Programs,
ATOS Consulting, Reliability, Training, CAS, EASA, Six Sigma, and
Lean. Regulatory and Compliance responsibilities include
Maintenance and Quality Programs, Safety, Hazmat, Environmental,
Security, Drug Program, CAS Audits, Internal Audits, FAA Liaison,
and Safety Programs. Experience acquired under FAR Part 121,
and Part 145 Repair Station.
I have a considerable amount of experience in technical writing to
include policy, procedure, regulatory compliance and training. I
have written or revised training manuals, General Maintenance
Manuals, Maintenance Program Documents, Engineering
Documents, Newsletter articles, ISO 9001 and 9110 manuals, etc.
I am knowledgeable with FAR regulatory requirements, including
CFR Title 14 Parts 23, 25, 43 45, 91, 121, and 145.
